We Don't Need Easy

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.””
Matthew 19:26 NIV

Faith makes things possible, not necessarily easy. Paul describes our daily transformation as a fight. This may sound intimidating, but nothing this side of heaven is a walk in the park. Sin is not the path of least resistance for long. Pain and disappointment attend all efforts at pleasing self.

The only logical choice for us is to choose the battle which guarantees us victory, now and for eternity. As we fight to constantly turn our face and trust heavenward, we are experiencing victory. The choice to trust is the victory.

God does not keep track of our failures. As we begin to understand his love for us, we stop keeping track as well. In victory, and in defeat, we are his because in both, we turn to him. Battles won bind us to him in gratitude. Battles lost remind us of our great need and his great mercy. Each time we turn to him we become more deeply convinced that he is worthy of the struggle. We don't need easy, we just need him.

Still Seeking His Face,
Pastor Andrew
