Foundational Truth

“Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”

John 13:1 ESV

There were a lot of things the disciples didn't understand about their master and his mission, but they knew he loved them. This bound their hearts to his in a way that even the signs and wonders Jesus performed could not have. The disciples stuck by Jesus after the fan-fare faded not only because he had the words of life, but because they knew his heart toward them was completely genuine.

Discovering the genuine and faithful nature of God's love for us is foundational. Upon this foundation God developed the apostles into bold witnesses and willing martyrs. When we walk in the light of God's love for us the joy and meaning we derive from this life grows exponentially. No other foundation exists which is capable of sustaining a genuine Christian experience. We will realize the best returns, in this life and the life to come, from our efforts to know and share the love God has for us.

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
