Good Dr.

“And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”

Luke 5:31 ESV

What kind of a Dr. would attempt to mask a patient's symptoms without treating or even informing a patient of a life-threatening condition? Sounds absurd doesn't it? Many, however, request similar treatment for their sins from the master physician Jesus Christ. Rather than honestly facing their spiritual condition, they cry out to God to make all of their problems go away.

The Jews in Christ's day cried out for freedom from the oppressive Roman rule but did not want to face their spiritual blindness and unbelief which lay at the heart of their captivity. If Jesus had given the Jews what they wanted it would only have further hardened them to the gospel.

While our sinful nature's crave freedom from discomfort, God allows us to experience in part the natural consequences of our sins in order to awaken us to our terminal illness of unbelief. Our flesh is convinced that difficult and trying circumstances are our greatest enemies and that they should be avoided at all costs. The truth is that unbelief is our greatest enemy because it robs us of peace now and threatens us with eternal destruction in the hereafter.

God takes no joy in our pain, but he is to good and loving a Dr. to allow us to continue on a path of destruction unaware. May we Stop fighting the arms which are trying to administer the cure to us, a revelation of God's saving grace and tender pitying love. The best doctors are able to both diagnose a problem and provide a permanent solution. Our Heavenly Father is the best of the best, his success rate is a 100% to all who will believe.

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
