Luke Warm, Cold, or White Hot?

““To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!”

Revelation 3:14-15 NIV

What is so bad about being Luke warm? Spiritually speaking hot and cold are honest conditions. The hot are all in and the cold are not and they do not pretend to be either. The cold are aware of their lack and may indeed still benefit from God's appeals, but the Luke warm feel no need. It would be far better to stop pretending and go cold than to waste away in the delusion of half-heartedness. The best option of all is to honestly acknowledge where we are at and begin crying out for God to awaken us and set us on fire.

Western Christianity today is desperately bent in a luke warm direction. Laodicea is the enemy's greatest achievement and his final stand. On the other side of this spiritual slumber awaits the greatest revival the earth has ever seen. There are no external controls which dictate the time at which this spiritual slumber comes to an end, the possibility of revival has ever stood at the door knocking. In fact, if we are honest, we have all sensed a hunger for more. Deep down we know the time has come to be all in!

Still Seeking His Face,
