Men, The Buck Stops Here

For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him."”

Genesis 18:19 ESV

The buck stops here. More men need to own this reality. The world's greatest need is for men who aren't afraid to take responsibility. History reveals that while many men crave power and influence, few have proven man enough to  own their mistakes.

The Bible is an honest book. It does not whitewash its heroes. Abraham was not a perfect man, but he grew to be a symbol of what man can become through friendship with God.

What sets true men apart from their male counterparts is not strength, popularity, or material success. Ownership and faith characterize real men. Abraham owned the eternal destiny of his entire household. It was not enough for him to provide for the physical well being of those entrusted to his care. He deeply desired and sought to improve their spiritual welfare.

Real men seek after God personally and also honor the sacred trust of standing in the gap for their loved ones. The world would fall apart if it were not for the prayers of sincere righteous mothers, and if ever there was a time for father's to join the fight in earnest it is now. For those that are already fully committed, let us reach out to our fellow brothers who have yet to own the sacred trust given them by God.

Abraham honored his household by bringing them on his journey to obey and befriend the Almighty. No matter how weak and failing your life may appear in your eyes, God sees infinite potential and a son he loves dearly. Our families don't need perfection they simply need our honest best. They need us to daily reach after God and for us to challenge them to do the same.

For all the ladies reading this, please stand by your men, believe in them even if they do not yet believe in themselves. Pray that they will own the trust of being a man of God. Wives, do not look to your husband but look beyond him to your Heavenly Father who alone can supply your every need. When you do this you will powerfully influence your man to do the same.

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
