Only One Opinions Matters

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Galatians 1:10 ESV

Living to please ourselves brings only emptiness and living to please others is exhausting. Sometimes we forget there is another option. When we live to please our Lord we find joy and strength and are a genuine blessing to everyone around us.

Living for the Lord breaks unhealthy dynamics in relationships. Negative co-dependencies can't survive indefinitely in the life being shaped by God's agenda. When we begin finding our value in our Father's love we are no longer a slave to the approval of others. This may initially cause some friction, especially for those who have been accustomed to having a degree of power over us. Ultimately, however, others will see in us a life and freedom they too long for.

Ask God to reveal to you this morning whose approval you are seeking first. If it is not his, it's ok to be honest about it. In fact it is extremely important that we can be honest about this point especially. God is not ashamed of us, and he understands the influences which drive us. He wants our happiness and freedom and he alone knows how to help us find those things to the fullest. Peace can only be experienced when we know we are honoring first the one most worthy.

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
