Sanctuary 2

“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah”

Psalms 24:3-6 ESV

Following the near extinguishing of the light during the dark ages the reformation dawned and with it a reawakening to God's goodness throughout the earth. First the revelation that we are saved by grace through faith stirred the hearts of men. Then a return to the Bible as the only authoritative source of truth laid a foundation. These fundamental principles enlightened multitudes and paved the way for a broadening understanding of who God is and what righteousness looks like.

With each successive generation God has ever been seeking to further dispel the darkness. Great men such as Martin Luther championed the fact that we are saved by God's grace alone, but other truths remained to be comprehended. Ideas such as the freedom of the human will or the right to liberty of conscience remained outside their scope of understanding.

As a late extension of this great reformatory movement, God continued to reveal himself through the great awakenings which swept across America through much of the 18th century. On the heels of the second great awakening the Millerite movement aroused the world to the literal and soon return of Jesus by shedding light upon Bible prophecy.

Out of the ashes of great disappointment when Jesus did not return as tens-of-thousands expected, God again opened the door of unprecedented spiritual illumination. This door peered into the Holy of Holies and for those clinging to faith in their master, opened before them a series of revelations that proved much more than a convenient explanation to Oct. 22nd 1844.

This new window into the heavenly sanctuary God utilized to place a hedge of protection around his children facing the peril of the last days. Knowing the end from the beginning our Father desires to prepare us to face false theories aimed at eroding our trust in God. He does this through full disclosure of his character so that we might not be swayed by the ocean of counterfeits already breaking upon us.

God intends to do more than protect us, he desires to draw us infinitely closer to himself and place in our hand the antidote for the cancer of degradation gripping our world. He intends us to follow him into the fight and take part in leveling the gates of hell. The final hours of earth's history will be a time of unprecedented visible victories for the Lamb. Tomorrow we will peer into the Holy of Holies and discern the faith-grounding beauty which awaits our discovery within.

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
