Sovereignty

“Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
Psalms 100:3 NKJV

Do not under-estimate the difficulty of surrendering your claim of sovereignty. Ultimately God is calling us to give ourselves into his care. He is calling us to surrender our pursuit of our own happiness and trust this to him.

By definition, no created being is capable of sovereignty or self-governance. Redemption involves coming out of the delusion of self-sufficiency. Peace, joy, and rest are found exclusively in the context of trust inspired surrender to the giver and sustainer of life.

Almost from birth fallen humanity manifests the "I can do it myself!" delusion. But truth be told, you can't, and neither can I. Thankfully we don't have to. There is no need to independently scrape out a meager existence when the bounties of heaven have already been purchased for us.

When the controversy is ended there will only be one intelligence claiming sovereignty over the universe. God alone is worthy of worship because he has created all things, sustains all things, and he is Love. He alone is capable of carrying our burdens in this life and sustaining us in the life to come. He is worthy of our trust.

Still Seeking His Face,
Pastor Andrew
