You Will See Greater Things Than These

“Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."”

John 1:50 ESV

When Jesus looked Nathanael in the eyes and revealed an intimate knowledge of the young man something precious transpired. Nathanael discovered one who knew him altogether. More than this, Nathanael discovered one who saw the very best in him. When Jesus declared that Nathanael was an Israelite in whom there was no guile he was not declaring him perfect, but he was speaking to the good he saw in him. This is how God works. He awakens us to his love for us and his focus upon our best qualities. Jesus wanted Nathanael to know he believed in him by highlighting the good he perceived in his character.

Our Buford family has been encountering this aspect of God's nature. We are beginning to understand that our Heavenly Father is in our corner and that he believes in us. Faith inspires faith, as we behold his love for, and confidence in us, we like Nathanael confess our trust and allegiance.

Please note what takes place next in the passage. Following Nathanael's confession of faith, Jesus with smiling eyes and expectation in his voice, promises Nathanael that he has not seen anything yet. The months that followed Jesus made good on his promise and Nathanael beheld heaven poured upon earth in a most miraculous way.

Our hearts have been captured by the unmatched love of God and we have committed ourselves by faith to follow our Father wherever he leads us. Now prepare for what happens next. Those same smiling eyes are looking upon us and our Father knows we haven't seen anything yet. God is positioning and preparing the Buford family for experiencing and sharing his goodness in a most pronounced way.

Are you all in? Are you ready to call this church home and invest in the mission of discovering and serving God as a family? By faith will you invest in the next step? Will you help your church family find a permanent base for ministry? If the ministry of this church has touched you I'm asking you to touch back and contribute consistently by your presence and your resources. To make a transition we need another $200,000 -$300,000. I believe in my church and I believe we could have this money raised in time for a transition this summer. Let's make this step of faith together and watch the "greater things than these" God has in store for us!

Still Seeking His Face,

Pastor Andrew
